How to Make an Ingenuous CD/DVD Roofing

If by any chance you have at home a big pile of CDs and DVDs that just get in your way, then you shouldn’t throw them out because you could use them
to build an ingenuous type of roof for your house or patio roofing. Even if installing this type of roofing might be a strange request for the
Atlanta roofing company you will be hiring for the job, it will also be intriguing for the professional crew.

But first here is some information on how to complete the project yourself, in case you don’t want to spend your money on an Atlanta roofing
company. Any roofing that has wooden boards underneath is suitable for this project. Nevertheless, disk arrangement is critical to ensure that only
one hole per disk is drilled and only one nail per disk is used, in order to avoid leaks.  CD/DVD roofing is perfect for structures like porches,
dog houses and sheds because the surface is easy to cover and it makes a great green and cheap method of roofing. Because you’ll need approximately
one hundred and twenty disks per square meter, which is a lot, you can ask friends or neighbors to give you extra old CDs or DVDs.

If you don’t have enough speed or if you are not good at drilling things, then you can explain to the contractor from the Atlanta roofing company
you’ve hired how to do it. However, if you are a handy person and if you are committed to the project, you should first built a jig out of wood and
then use it to place the CD in order to drill a hole in the same place in the CD or DVD consistently. The hole must be drilled anywhere on the ring
where the central clear area meets the foil because this will allow you to nail through the disk without needing a hole in the below part of the CD.
You can also push a stack of disks into the jig once the drill bit is centered on the cross. This way you can drill over then disks at a time. If
you don't have a pillar drill, build the same jig, then screw a baton across the top with a hole in it in the right place through which to stick
your bit. It is important to quickly remove the disks from the jig, once you drill through them, because they could melt together due to the heat of
the bit. So, with a twisting motion, you should separate them from each other.

After this step you need to decide how you want to install them on your roof, with the shiny side up or down. The advantage or arranging them with
the shiny side up is that they will keep the shed or dog house cooler in the summer and they might have a longer lifespan if they reflect
ultraviolet rays.

The next step is placing them on the roof. To do that you can use 16 mm nails because they have wide flat heads that can hold the disks in place
without splitting them. You should also use shafts that are 2.5 mm because they match perfectly with the holes you’ve drilled in your disks. For the
first layer at the bottom, you should lay the CDs out first before you start nailing them in order to make sure you get the right alignment. You
must start at the bottom and work your way up, being careful to cover the holes. This entire process can take about an hour, depending on how handy
you are with a hammer. Even if this type of roof is strange, unique and even if the CD or DVD roofing is water resistant, it lacks longevity when it
comes to frost.
